EID MUBARIK

Eid UL Fitr will be celebrated Sunday all over North America by Muslims. This Eid is a double joy for us Muslims because Eid is occurring on a Sunday. On Sunday the majority of the Muslims will be off from work or school so we won’t have to juggle our work day with our celebration day. American Muslims are struggling to get their major holidays recognized so they can celebrate them with family and friends instead of going to work. There is very little progress on this matter but we won’t lose hope. After all, our combined efforts helped produce an Eid Stamp from the USA Post Office. We look forward to the future when every American Muslim will have Eid day off as a recognized holiday.

Eid is a joyous occasion, because we all have been fasting and praying and have been giving charity for an entire month. We have made personal sacrifices to honor and acknowledge this month of Ramadan. Today we just celebrate. We exchange gifts we go to each others homes and we are joyous. We are joyous because we have done our homework. We have fulfilled the obligations we were asked by our religion. Now it is time to enjoy.

Each American Muslim based on their background and culture will be performing family rituals and enjoying a variety of cuisine cooked mostly on Eid Day. My background is South Asian Muslim and we will be enjoying Sheer Khorma - a delicacy created between a marriage of milk, sugar and noodles. Sweet spaghetti for the want of a better word. Umm Umm Umm.

It is our belief that the month of Ramadan God decides our future for the whole year. Hopefully we are in the column of Life, Health and Happiness.

Muslims For America, sends its best wishes to all our members, friends and web site visitors for a happy hearty and safe Eid.

Enjoy the next three days.

Eid Mubarik.

I bid you Peace and thank you for your teachings on this website. I also enjoy your music . I am curious though why you still show pictures of the Bush administration when President Obama is standing up for Muslims far more than Bush did. I am Proud of of our New President Obama and I was NOT of Mr. Bush. Only through knowledge and acceptance will we have a chance to have Peace.. Fear and ignorance only destroys that chance. Salem

As an American I can say I am trly fearful of Muslims not only because of the recent events at Fort Hood, but in general Muslims are not portrayed in a positive light. I am starting to think there is a good bit of truth to that. Why are there no popular Muslim leaders, politicians, activits, actors etc? 9 out of 10 people probably first equate the word ‘terrorist’ with Muslim than anything else. I think in cases like the recent shooting at Ft Hood that profiling would have kelp an event like this from happening. Unfortunately we live in such a sensative society that people cant handle being profiled. Well, I can’t handle American soldiers being murder at the hands of a Muslim in the name of Allah. It is also my opinion that the fighting in the Middle East and Gulf countries are a direct result of the Muslim influence in th region. No other region has the daily turmoil and chaos that this region does.

This organization and Web site is a great idea. Thank you very much for your constructive efforts toward promoting good will between Muslims and us outsiders.

Unfortunately, based on the numbers and frequency of the articles and comments on your site, I have to conclude that your point of view is representative of a very small minority of Muslims. Until the average American can see and hear an outpouring of printed and spoken disavowals and condemnations by Muslims of incidents such as the recent one at Fort Hood, we have to suspect that most Muslims sympathize with the actions of Major Hasan and his fellow terrorists.

I wish you success in attracting more fellow Muslims to your cause and involving them as spokespersons for your point of view.

It’s a drag that you guys have the same last name as the infamous major, you seem like nice people.

As re Ft. Hood, etc., it would be interesting to see a demonstration by Muslims against violence in the name of Allah. That might make both sides feel better. Perhaps your organization can get one going?

    Good Luck, C. Dow
