Fort Hood Attack - Insanity or Terrorism?

GUEST BLOGGER - Dr. M. M. Hasan, a Neurologist.

The possibilities behind this awful deeds are two. Either he was sane and committing a well-organized act of Terrorism for which he may have trained and plotted. Or he was just Insane. This is what needs to be determined. If he was insane as it is most likely to be established then it puts the entire matter in a different perspective. He shows all the classical symptoms of chronic well adjusted Chronic Schizophrenia:

1. Paranoia. 2. Lone Wolf existence with no close friends and no sense of comradeship working in an organization for nine years which is very successful in fostering a sense of comradeship. 3. Still a bachelor at age 39 and by news account not dating. 4. Bizarre thinking. For example he gave a long list of requirements as to what he expected in his wife that despite being a Physician there were no takers. The usual explanation is they are incapable of intimacy and avoid overtures to the opposite sex. 5. Excessive and bizarre religiosity in the context of being born and raised in US.

A number of American Muslims are volunteering to enlist in US military because it is primarily the US military which is protecting innocent Muslims from Sectarian strife and from the bad guys. Most of the causalities in Afghanistan and Iraq have happened from Muslim on Muslim violence.

If one truly cares about innocent Muslims in those countries one would be rooting for the US Military.

For someone serving in US Military and is aware of the rules of engagement (at all cost avoid collateral damage to innocent population) and the role and ultimate goal of US (building a free democratic Iraq and Afghanistan) to somehow jump to the conclusion that US is the enemy is bizarre and irrational thinking.

I am aware that such thinking is prevalent in Muslim countries but the individuals in those countries were not born and raised in US, sent to Medical School by US Military and served in US Military for more than nine years. He should know better.

Moreover, if he was truly religious, he had the religious obligation to respect any oath that he has taken such as induction in the Military. To violate an oath is a mortal sin.

By the way mild well adjusted Schizophrenia is relatively common and is the cause of fair number of homicides. In common parlance they are described as Sociopaths.

  1. Charles Dow Says:

“Most of the causalities in Afghanistan and Iraq have happened from Muslim on Muslim violence.”

Well done! Even most non-Muslims and the media don’t seem to understand this important point.

“If one truly cares about innocent Muslims in those countries one would be rooting for the US Military.”

    Again, well done!

I do have to wonder what percentage of Muslims would agree with these statements, however…
